Some Important Green Initiatives are underway at Jensen's Tennis Centre
At Jensen's we are always looking at the way we do things. We're constantly improving our systems and looking at ways to deliver better services for customers. Perhaps you might have known that already but what you may not know is that we are also spending time looking at the way our tennis centre affects the environment.

Jensen's is committed to reducing its carbon impact upon the environment.

Some of Jensen’s initiatives are set out below:

1.

Office, Tennis Courts & Change Room Power are supplied by 100% renewable sources through our contract with Energy Australia's PureEnergy Premium. "Generating Electricity from renewable energy sources (instead of non-renewable sources such as coal) helps to prevent further increase in Greenhouse gas emissions and the greenhouse effect - the gradual warming of the earth caused by an increase in the amount of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere". (www.energy.com.au/greenenergy)

2.

With each New & Renewed Club Membership a tree is planted helping to "turn emissions into trees" through our participation in Carbon Neutral's planting projects. "Planting trees is an effective way to absorb or 'sequester' carbon dioxide emissions. Carbon Neutral plants hundreds of thousands of native trees each year in environmentally vulnerable areas". (www.carbonneutral.com.au)

3.

Jensen's use & supply HEAD brand Tennis Racquets and Balls. "HEAD is committed to saving over 7,000 acres/28 km2 (per year) of mature rainforest from destruction - which equals the size of more than 100,000 tennis courts or 7,000 American football fields." (www.head.com/corporate/cool_earth)

4.

Jensen's uses EXETEL for its ISP & Telephone services who donate a percentage of our monthly payment to fund nominated projects that protect and enhance the survival of Australian flora and fauna. (www.exetel.com.au)

5.

Jensens has supported and participated in Earth Hour 60 for the past two years and will continue to participate annually. "On March 29 this year, more than 50 million people around the globe united for one hour and switched off their lights to show that they care about our living planet." (www.earthhour.org)

6.

Jensen's uses SITA Environmental Solutions to provide recycling bins for waste generated by the Kiosk & Pro-Shop. Plastic bottles, aluminium cans, tennis ball cans & cardboard boxes. (www.sita.com.au)

7.

Jensen's is committed to reducing paper usage:
Booking Receipts and Invoices are sent to customers via email rather than being printed, thus reducing paper and ink cartridge waste. We use on-line payments for all our accounts. The majority of our advertising is through our website.

8.

We use low energy light bulbs and water reduction washers.

9. Whenever possible our staff are using public transport or biking to work.
